Could a career in market research at TNS be right for you?
Market research is a fascinating, and rapidly-evolving business: insights now come from a huge variety of data sources including social media, behavioural metrics (captured with clever technology at the point of happening), as well as more traditional survey data.
At TNS we use market research to advise commercial clients on specific growth strategies around new market entry, innovation, brand switching and customer management. And in the social research arena our public affairs division informs decisions in government departments and in the public sector.
TNS is a global company with offices in over 80 countries. Put together this means we have more conversations with the world’s consumers than anyone else! We understand individual human behaviours and attitudes across every cultural, economic and political region.
As leader in this fast-paced industry, TNS is looking for ambitious graduates with a strong sense of curiosity, and the clarity of thinking that gets to the heart of clients’ business issues. We need people with the ability to pull together insights from diverse sources and who have the confidence and presence to share their point of view.
What the TNS graduate scheme can give you
Central to our working ethos is a focus on the future – and a desire to collaborate like crazy with colleagues to seek solutions to our clients’ problems. So our grad scheme involves a year rotating around three different sectors – plunging you into projects right from the start and giving you experience across different teams, client industries and research approaches (qualitative and quantitative, social and commercial, digital and more traditional).
Not only will this ensure you develop smart research expertise (and you’ll be supported through the professional qualifications too) but our scheme will also build your commercial acumen, communication and project management skills – core foundations of any career.
You’ll be part of a tight knit grad cohort that comes together between rotations for Focus training weeks that reinforce, and build-on, the skills you have started to learn on the job. Through specific grad tasks you’ll have opportunities to shine as individuals as well as part of a team. The broader grad network will welcome you into a supportive group that seeks to share experiences, and mentor each other.
You’ll be based for the grad year in our fantastic offices at London Bridge. Previous graduates have gone on to work in our offices throughout the world, to run specialist practice areas, to manage global accounts and to influence strategy on the board.
Who are we looking for?
The ability to reflect, problem solve and communicate with passion is more important than any particular background degree: successful grad schemers have come from an incredibly broad range of subjects – from the arts, sciences, languages, economics, maths, anthropology, data sciences, theology, criminology….
Most of all we need graduates with their wits about them who have the confidence to use their initiative, to speak up, and who can combine an-eye-for-detail with the ability to step back and see the broader picture.
(Base level is a 2.1 or above, at least 300 UCAS points and GCSE, or equivalent, Maths & English at a minimum grade B. All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK).
