Procurement Category Manager



Organizing, conducting, and steering of indirect strategic procurement activities within the General Services and IT Category (hardware/software, telecommunications, occupancy, office suppliers, etc to establish optimal purchasing conditions with an excellent preferred supplier base. Drives central procurement and PO management resulting in improved pricing, payment terms, accuracy, and service. Supports the North American Head of Procurement in the execution of the regional category strategy and ensures alignment with the Global strategy. Leads a team of centralized category buyers and directly engages in high level contracts and other purchase commitments totaling between $25-30M total spend per year in support of both CE and CC businesses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Define and communicate innovative sourcing strategies for the General Services, Travel, and IT Categories and ensure alignment with the Global Category Strategy.
• Initiate, design, and drive demand planning/pooling across the region to ensure optimum procurement process is followed.
• Proactively set up and conduct supplier management (in conjunction with partner functions, such as Client Services, project teams, etc.) to win and develop the best suppliers and to establish a sustainable supply chain.
• Conduct regular supplier evaluation and develop suppliers through clear target agreements and follow-up of the target achievement.
• Plan, monitor and report on (internal) category-specific objectives. Implement targets and define and introduce (corrective) measures for achieving these targets.
• Keep all supplier master data up-to-date, including supplier rating.
• Define and implement innovative negotiation concepts and strategies, and carry out cost and contract negotiation. Keep all contracts with suppliers up to date and follow contract fulfilment, prolongation, etc.
• Interdisciplinary work in projects to gather information, take proactive measures and optimize internal processes and workflows.
• Comply, prepare, present and endorse information relating to sourcing and supplier issues, and make this information available to other department within the organization as appropriate
• Lead a small team of Indirect Category Buyers and manage relevant Procurement Operations
5+ years managing or participating in Category Management, preferably in General Services, Travel, and/or IT.
• Must have superior communications skills with the ability to interact, converse and share ideas effectively with employees at all levels of business, from associates to upper management.
• Strong multitasking skills and highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
• Capable and competent leader with the ability to influence others cross functionally.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with both internal customers and external suppliers.
• Excellent observation, judgement, evaluation, and negotiation skills.
Education:  BS Degree, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, etc; MS or MBA, ISM or APICs CSCP or equivalent preferred.
