McKinsey Healthcare Values Analytics (HCVA) is looking for talented Analysts to join our team in New York City or Washington, DC. Our Analysts are skilled consultants with strong problem-solving and communications skills, deep interest and skillset in analytics, statistics and data analysis at large, and solid understanding and passion for healthcare challenges, innovation and reform.

McKinsey & Company is a global management consulting firm that advises the world’s leading businesses, governments and institutions. With more than 100 offices in over 60 countries, we have a truly global reach and serve more than eight in ten of Fortune magazine’s Most Admired Companies.  We have created a dedicated group in our healthcare practice called McKinsey Healthcare Value Analytics (HCVA). HCVA designs, delivers and operates advanced analytics, models and algorithms powering healthcare payment innovation. We cover Episode-Based Payment Models, Population Health Payment Models and have a dedicated capability on Special Need Populations.

An Analyst is a key contributor to the success of an HCVA project.  Specifically s/he:
  • Participates to the problem solving to design, deliver and maintain one or multiple HCVA models, algorithms to a McKinsey client
  • Delivers the necessary analysis to inform the problem-solving process
  • Crystalizes and documents the designed models and algorithms (typically in a comprehensive Detailed Business Requirement document)
  • Works with our Technology team to turn the model and algorithms into an actual production grade code developed on the HCVA Big Data Platform
  • Develops an expertise on at least one HCVA asset (e.g., a specific model or a specific episode of care)
  • Participates in IP development projects contributing to the overall knowledge and capabilities of HCVA
  • Develops strong knowledge related to healthcare payment innovation e.g., Episode-based payment models, PCMH, ACO, Health Homes, Capitation models
  • Develops strong knowledge of claims data e.g., ICD-9 codes, CPT codes, pharmacy claims coding
A Senior Analyst is involved in multiple clients and assets at the same time. In addition, a Senior Analyst has developed specific expertise related to payment innovation through the projects s/he participated to. A Senior Analyst is typically put in a situation to manage one HCVA project autonomously.
The expected evolution after Senior Analyst is towards a Specialist position.

  • Consistently deliver exceptional results and great ideas
  • Have at minimum a bachelor degree (preferably in health policy, public health, economics, mathematics and/or statistics)
  • Have a background in our technology environment and tools (SQL, R)
