McKinsey Digital is looking for a talented and creative Partnership & Alliance Manager to join our team in Asia-Pacific, and help lead our efforts in partnering with leading technology and data providers in the Digital space across Asia-Pacific.
 
Detailed Description
“Digital” is rapidly changing the way our clients go to market and organize to deliver value.  McKinsey Digital combines strategic thinking, marketing & sales, operations and technology expertise to deliver accelerated outcomes.  We help clients separate digital opportunity from hype, build business prototypes to prove that opportunities are real, orchestrate the necessary organizational change and delivery to ensure that technology investment translates into business outcomes, and build capabilities across the organization.  In order to help our clients on their own digital journeys, McKinsey is working with leading specialized technology and data providers to complement our internal capabilities via formal and informal partnerships and alliances.  An integral part of McKinsey Digital, our global Partnerships & Alliances team develops partnerships across the entire spectrum of our work, and provides a critical link between partners and client-serving teams across all regions.  We work equally closely with McKinsey Solutions to ensure consistency in approach and overall collaboration where appropriate. 
Responsibilities:
Reporting to both, McKinsey Digital’s global Head of External Partnerships and the McKinsey Digital Asia leadership team, the Partnership & Alliance Manager works closely with the extended McKinsey Digital leadership, service lines, sectors and client serving teams in the region to:
  • Scale key existing global partnerships into and across Asia-Pacific, where appropriate
  • Identify potential additional partners with specific relevance across the region or in individual markets, maintaining links within the ecosystem working with experts and teams to identify gaps
  • Conduct rapid assessments of capabilities & use cases and set priority for potential new partners by applying own knowledge base, organizing internal reviews (including key champions, IT, external experts) and maintaining active database of ongoing discussions
  • Provide objective, market-driven views on which potential new partners show the highest potential to deliver impact for our clients and should be pursued, taking into account strategic, reputational and financial considerations
  • Develop partnership strategy and approach (e.g., non-exclusive, exclusive, equity partnership, JV, etc.) based on a thorough understanding of each partner’s capabilities and use cases
  • Design client service arrangements and facilitate the use of partnerships as appropriate, including pilots and educational measures
Desired Skills
Desired skills and experience:
Ideal candidates have comparable experience in relevant contexts or are highly skilled consultants.  Given the demands of this critical role, the Partnership & Alliance Manager should possess a well-rounded consulting/professional services skill set, and more specifically:
  • Outstanding external client facing and stakeholder management skills, maturity and presence, and the ability to work in trust-based relationships with both clients and senior McKinsey colleagues
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities and experience
  • Natural networking and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a number of workstreams in parallel with strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding business sense and strategic thinking, with the ability to position McKinsey Digital in a way that will reinforce the Firm’s distinctiveness
  • Passion and knowledge about the evolving digital landscape, including data, advanced analytics and technology
  • Ability to understand and assess underlying technologies or analytic services is a strong plus
  • A keen interest in proactively developing an important new suite of services and capabilities inside the Firm
  • MBA, graduate degree or equivalent experience
