 Overview
McKinsey Digital is seeking an External Relations Manager to build our reputation and execute a strategic communications program across Asia. The Manager will be an integral member of the McKinsey Digital team to helpestablish our credibility as we expand into new service models and help clients with their digital transformation.
 Detailed Description
  • The Manager will help build McKinsey Digital’s reputation in Asia through first-class external events,publishing, media relations, social media, and targeted dissemination of practice content
  • The program will increase visibility across channels and position leaders in front of key stakeholders
  • The Manager will support Asia’s leader of McKinsey Digital, Practice Manager and Global Director ofCommunications to market the McKinsey Digital global brand and its distinct perspectives
  • The Manager will collaborate with the global external relations team primarily across the network of other communications colleagues throughout Asia
Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality editing support on articles, knowledge booklets and presentation materials; collaborate with writers and designers throughout the execution process
  • Help edit and produce videos and podcasts, collaborating with McKinsey’s editorial and production colleagues to execute deliverables throughout Asia
  • Increase high touch dissemination of McKinsey Digital content to clients, press and relevant thoughtleaders
  • Proactive outreach to media to facilitate briefings and secure coverage in collaboration with fellow media relations colleagues
  • Support social media programs across all external dissemination activities (Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube)
  • Advise and train consultants on media relations including social media policies and best practices
  • Plan and execute a mix of client events, including local and regional forums, dinner roundtables, and other events hosted jointly with third party organizations
  • Secure speaking roles at prominent conferences and webinars, coordinate logistics, and prep speakersaccordingly
  • Help establish a comprehensive mapping of key journalists, thought leaders, academics and otherinfluencers; help drive outreach programs to these audiences
  • Manage calendar of events, webinars, and speeches in alignment with content pipeline
  • Oversee Asia budget and share metrics on quarterly basis aligned with growth strategies and clientpriorities
Desired Skills
  • The manager will collaborate with the global external relations team including other communications managers in our local Asia offices
  • 10+ years credible experience in a communications-related field
  • Strong event management skills and experience in planning and executing all aspects of roundtables andconferences aimed at senior business audiences
  • Experience working with international press in reputation-building scenarios and support the media relationsteam to anticipate and handle reputation risk issues
  • Strong writing and editorial skills, in particular, the ability to distill complex ideas into accessible copy
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb a wide range of complex business and policy issues; strong interestin knowledge development and dissemination
  • Ability to create a solid internal and external network to ensure successful execution of events and otheractivities
  • Self-motivation and entrepreneurship, with an appetite for working in a low-structure environment
  • Team oriented, with a strong commitment to team members and client impact
  • Outstanding interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Education: University degree required; strong academic record
