Innovation

  • Build, improve and maintain the company’s capability to innovate by coordinating the development and internal promotion of new ideas to help the business compete into the future
  • Improve transparency and consistency of focus and efforts around innovation, and therefore probability of success
  • Direct innovation priorities (remaining simultaneously aligned to local client demand and global directives), within the context of a disciplined and focused approach to innovation
  • Build, sustain and improve skills in business-critical innovation areas by creating an environment conducive to the development of expertise and the promotion of creativity
  • Stimulate collaboration across the innovation team to ensure that the relevant design expertise and experience is incorporates into innovation projects
  • Coordinate capacity (in terms of time, resources and systems) within the largely self-directed innovation team to support swift progress
  • Drive entrepreneurial spirit in the company (balanced against global strategy)
  • Effectively measure the progress made and impact of innovation-lead developments (based on revenue growth, efficiency improvement and client impact and interest)
  • Build and manage strategic partner relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Translate research trends into opportunities to future-proof the business through innovation
  • Communicate and facilitate the communication of innovation lead insights, innovation priorities and client-ready offers to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assume full responsibility for the annual innovation budget, set and managed against defined priorities, including the management of risks associated with innovation
  • Inspire delivery by offering short term brainstorm support and advanced problem solving capacity through the Innovation Team

People Management (where applicable)

  • An effective leader and manager of people and team capacity
  • Responsible for development and retention of talent within the team
  • Monitor performance of the team as a whole and individual managers
  • Responsible for mentoring, training, and managing direct reports
  • Maintain motivation in team through clear communication
  • Key contact for resource management
  • Responsible for performance management of direct reports
  • Responsible for initiating Performance Improvement Plans where necessary of team members (include meeting all process requirements, meetings, documentation, records, etc)
  • Ensure team members have objectives & development plans to support team goals and company strategy
  • Career mapping (management of each team member through objectives / smart goals)
  • Recognise team and individual achievement (including client feedback)
  • Assist in recruitment and development of staff in line with team and company needs.
  • Selection / recruitment (screen CVs and conduct interviews with HR)
  • Identify skills gaps and growth potential of team members; provide on the job training
  • Monitor and manage workload, productivity and capacity within team
  • Prioritise project requirements and delivery by monitoring the input and outputs of the team
  • Allocate resources effectively
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high quality people through succession planning and performance management
  • Role descriptions (including updates as positions evolve)
  • Identify growth potential/skill gaps and provides training or assists in assessing training needs
  • Facilitate and drive necessary internal training sessions
  • Support a learning culture through development of junior team members
  • Understands team dynamics; builds constructive and effective relationships

  • Presents self to colleagues and the external world in a manner which is professional and reflects the values/‘face’ of TNS
  • Set standards of excellence for team
  • Be involved in complex / high profile studies to support managers towards the best (most effective and efficient) possible delivery

Experience and Skills:

  • A degree in research methodology, commerce or similar field
  • At least 5 years extensive experience in social and/or market research projects
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to advise on research methodologies and products
  • Statistical analysis
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Interpersonal, analytical thinking, communication (verbal & written) and problem solving skills
