Group Account Director – Automotive Research TNS



Purpose of the role:

Take full responsibility for achieving profitability and turnover targets across an array of clients through a highly skilled and motivated team. Provide strategic and relevant marketing insights to clients based on analysis of market research data, ensuring a high quality of work whilst deadlines are met.

Role deliverables:

Financial management:

  • A major contribution to and responsibility for the growth and profitability of your sectors/clients as a significant part of TNS annual business plan
  • Provide solutions to company barriers that are holding back profitability and growth in the relevant sectors
  • Accountable for achievement of annual GM and profit results
  • Strong proficiency in pricing for success and profit
  • Responsible for bringing and managing 7-8  m AED revenue
  • Debt collection

Proposal process:

  • Generate RFP’s
  • Accountable for overall integrity of proposal/pitch
  • Design to the budget while maximising client spend
  • Work with various Quantitative SBUs to co-create best approach for client

Project management:

  • Proactively work with team and suppliers for process improvement to benefit client
  • Responsible for the negotiations with client over changes impacting on original brief
  • Responsible for ensuring materials meet client business needs


  • Ensuring client deliverables meet client expectations and needs; deliver excellence
  • Demonstrate thought leadership on the subject

Development of clients:

  • Identification and development of new clients in these sectors and continued growth of existing clients through on-going research excellence and relevant expertise
  • Have a thorough understanding of the client business and market

Leadership and management of people:

  • Maintain motivation in team through clear communication in conjunction with the Account Director and maintain Account Directors’ motivation through clear communication
  • Support in the development of account strategy and communication to the team
  • Recognize team and individual achievement (including client feedback) in conjunction with the Account Director and recognize Account Directors’ achievement (including Client feedback)
  • Maintain motivation in team through clear communication
  • Support Account Directors in ensuring all direct reports have objectives and development plans that support company strategy and ensure Account Directors has objectives and a development plan that supports company strategy
  • Lead development of account strategy and communication to the team


  • Responsible for clear and accurate reports, presentations and proposals
  • Responsible for consultation with key stakeholders
  • Actively listen and communicate openly with clients and internal teams

Minimum skills and knowledge:

  • Relevant tertiary education (MBA, B.Com / B.Bus Sci Marketing / relevant degree preferred)
  • 12yrs+ relevant experience in market research and analysis
  • Management experience
  • Knowledge of research processes and methodologies (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Strong commercial acumen (cost and time management)
  • Ability to advise on research methodologies and products
  • Advanced Statistical analysis
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Marketing processes
  • Project Management
  • Presentation skills
  • Interpersonal, analytical thinking, communication (verbal & written) and problem solving skills
  • Computer application (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
